Blood Pressure: Upper Arm Blood Pressure Measurement
In heart rate disorders, particularly atrial fibrillation, electronic devices that use oscillometric measurement are only partially suitable. In this situation, the blood pressure must be measured with the stethoscope (Riva-Rocci method) as incorrect results can be obtained with electronic devices. See notes in the instructions for use.
The software of Beurer blood pressure monitors is pre-calibrated. The 100% accuracy of the blood pressure monitors is verified during production. No recalibration is required.
Blood pressure readings obtained at the doctor's practice by the doctor or practice staff using the standardized Riva-Rocci method of listening to what are known as the Korotkoff sounds are usually somewhat higher than the blood pressure readings you obtain when you measure it yourself in a relaxed atmosphere at home. We call this "doctor's surgery" or "white coat" hypertension. People who have raised blood pressure under the stress of everyday conditions can have normal readings under quiet conditions at the doctor's.
Blood pressure & pulse depend on many factors that can have an effect even in the short term: - Physical influences - Medical influences - Physical exercise - Muscle tension - Talking - Excitement - Noise, etc.
The way the measurement is taken is also relevant: - Cuff applied too tightly / too loosely - Cuff not at heart level - Too short of a break between measurements
The wrist measurement must be taken with the wrist at heart level. If the arm is laid flat on a table, for instance when you are seated, the blood pressure is overestimated by approximately 7-8 mmHg because there is a difference from heart level (1.5cm is equivalent to 1 mmHg).
Incorrect results also occur with wrist measurement in the case of heart rate abnormalities and changes (e.g. due to age) in the arteries of the wrist. Particularly in elderly persons, wrist devices may give imprecise readings. The arteries in the upper arm are not so sensitive with regard to these influences. For this reason, occasional measurements on the upper arm are recommended for comparison.
There should be a break of at least 3 minutes before successive measurements.
Download the HealthManager app from the App Store or from Google Play and activate Bluetooth® in your smartphone settings. Start the app and follow the instructions. You can now add your blood pressure monitor by going to Menu > Settings > My devices. Please note that the device cannot be connected through the smartphone settings.

Body Scale
Body fat scales must not be used with electrically operated impla (e.g. cardiac pacemalers, medication pumps) Persons with electrically conducting implants (e.g. bone screws, hip replacements) can use the scales. However, incorrect measurements can occur because of the better electrical conductivity of the implant compared to the tissues.
The body fat scales should not be used during pregnancy. Because of the amniotic fluid, incorrect measurements can occur.
- Different weight readings can be caused by not standing still on the scales - The scales was pushed or lifted between the measurements, there was no correct zero setting or initialisation between the measurements - Due to technical tolerances, there can be a difference of up to +/- 0.5 kg in the readings between two measurements - Incorrect position on the scales, person stands a bit further forward or a bit further backward on the scales
- Fluctuating results in measurement of weight - Effect of external factors such as dryer feet etc. - Movement artefacts - User stands differently on the electrodes from one measurement to another
Different manufacturers record different valuations of measurements, depending on the software. These valuations may result in a differences in measurements. The Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) method of measuring body fat should generally be considered a trend measurement and not an absolute measurement because the total measurement is dependent on many external factors.
- With scales with the "Quick Start" function, the user can stand on the scales directly without switching it on beforehand. The scales switches on independently and then starts measuring when it is stepped on.
- The "Tap on" function describes switching on the scales by tapping the upper bowl of the scales. This means that the user has to tap on the scales and then wait until 0.0 appears in the display. It is only possible then to step on the scales and commence measurement.
- Anatomical variations (e.g. considerably longer or shorter leg length) - Volume of calves and/or thighs - Training condition of the muscles - Bone structure - Fat distribution in the body - User's state of health - Poor contact between soles of the feet & electrodes - Severe sweating - Use of medications - Edema of the legs - Hematoma in the legs - Fever - Measurement after physical effort - Measurement at different times of the day - Fluctuating body weight - Pregnancy (amniotic fluid) - Metal implants - Calloused skin on the soles of the feet
Insect Bite Healer
Yes, we recommend cleaning the insect bite healer before and after use. Use a soft, dry cloth for this. Note: The insect bite healer must not be cleaned in the dishwasher.
The bite healer works by applying heat (local hyperthermia) to the affected area.
It is best to use the device directly after the sting or after noticing the sting. If required, you can use the heat function of the insect bite healer on the sting/bite again after a break of 2 minutes or also use it immediately on another sting/bite in a different area. The maximum number of 5 applications per hour on the same treatment area must not be exceeded.
The insect bite healer can be used on anyone over 3 years of age under supervision; can be used for self-treatment by anyone over 12 years of age.
In the case of contraindications, the insect bite healer should not be used: - Do not use the device if you suffer from diabetes. Sensitivity to pain could, in certain circumstances, be reduced & diabetics may burn themselves. - Do not use the device on people with disabilities, children under 3 years of age or people with reduced sensitivity to heat. This includes people with skin alterations due to illness or scarred tissue in the application area, after taking pain relief medication, drinking alcohol or taking drugs. - Do not use the device on acutely or chronically diseased (injured or irritated) skin (e.g. inflamed skin, whether painful or not, reddened skin, rashes, (e.g. allergies), burns, frostbite, bruises, swellings (without signs of an insect bite/sting), open or healing wounds, & surgical scars where the healing process could be affected). - Do not use the device if you are suffering from a fever. - Do not use the device on sensitive areas of skin. - Do not use the device if you have any sensory impairment that reduces the feeling of pain (e.g. metabolic disorders). - Do not use the device if you are using lotions, creams & gels locally at the same time. - Do not use the device if you suffer from persistently irritated skin due to long-term heat application on the same area of skin.
If required, you can use the heat function of the insect bite healer on the sting/bite again after a break of 2 minutes or also use it immediately on another sting/bite in a different area. The maximum number of 5 applications per hour on the same treatment area must not be exceeded.
In principle, the insect bite healer can also be used on tattooed skin. The device must not be used on freshly tattooed skin.
The integrated hot plate can reach up to 122°F.
No, rechargeable batteries must not be used.
Depending on the sensitivity of the person using the device and of the area of skin, the treatment temperature may feel unpleasant and cause slight skin redness and, in rare cases, irritated skin. If the heat function feels too hot, stop treatment immediately!
Yes, the emergency switch-off engages when the activation button is pressed for more than 2 seconds.
The activation button only needs to be pressed briefly. If the button is held for more than 2 seconds, the emergency switch-off is activated.
No, it is not possible to mute.
Possible reasons are: - Emergency switch-off is activated after the activation button has been pressed for more than 2 seconds - Device battery no longer words
If the reasons are not present, it may be a defect or a malfunction. Please contact our Customer Services & we will be happy to help.
Baby Scale
You can find a unit controller on the rear of the baby scale, which you can use to change the weight unit.
To ensure a correct weight measurement, please observe the following instructions: - Place the scale on a firm, level surface & ensure that your baby is lying calmly on the scale. - Uneven or soft surfaces can cause inaccuracies in measurement. - If your baby is wriggling while the measurement is being taken, use the HOLD-function & try to calm your little one. - The scale may have an incorrect zero point. Switch the baby scale off & on again. Wait until the scale displays "0.000 kg" & repeat the measurement.
This error message has two possible causes: - The scale is not on a firm, level surface. Please place the scale on a firm, level surface & ensure that your baby is not wriggling. Re-tare the baby scale. - The maximum weight capacity of 20 kg has been exceeded. Please remove weight from the scale.
Your scale is equipped with a low battery indicator. The batteries in the scale no longer have power. Please replace them (3 x 1.5 V AAA (alkaline type LR03)). After each battery replacement, you must re-synchronise the baby scale with the "beurer BabyCare" app, in order to be able to transfer measurements to the app.
This baby scale has a tare function. If you have placed a towel or other objects on the baby scale when it is already switched on & you would like to remove these again before weighing, you can also use the TARE function. Once you have pressed the TARE button, "TARE" is shown in the display. To reset the baby scale to "0,000 kg", you have to remove the towel or additional weight from the baby scale & press the TARE button again.
This baby scale has a HOLD function (AUTO HOLD and MECHANICAL HOLD). The AUTO HOLD function (which is activated as standard) establishes the baby's weight on the display as soon as they are still enough to achieve an exact measured value. If the baby is moving around vigorously, the weight cannot be recorded. Therefore, try to calm the wriggling baby to achieve a rapid measurement, but do not touch the baby, as this will affect the weight measurement. As soon as the baby's weight is established on the display, the word 'HOLD' stops flashing and the weight is displayed for 120 seconds. If the baby is wriggling about too vigorously, you can select the MECHANICAL HOLD function by pressing the HOLD button. After 3 seconds, the word 'HOLD' stops flashing and the averaged weight is displayed for 120 seconds.
A maximum of 10 measurements can be stored.
If "APP" appears in the display for 120 seconds, the baby scale has not yet been synchronised with the app. All measurements that have been taken without previous synchronisation cannot then be transferred to the "beurer BabyCare" app. Connect the baby scale with the app. To use the scale without the app, press on any button on the baby scale and the "APP" symbol will disappear.
To transfer the measured weight to the app, press the Bluetooth® button after the measurement has successfully been taken. The readings are transferred to the app as soon as the scale is connected with the app via Bluetooth®. The baby scale automatically switches off once the transfer has been completed successfully. You can then find all newly transferred measurements in the app. These can then be assigned to the desired baby profile & then transferred to the app timeline.
- Install the "beurer BabyCare" app on your mobile end device. - The "APP" symbol appears for 120 seconds in the scale display when the baby scale is used for the first time. During this time, you can activate the Bluetooth® function on your mobile end device & open the app. - You can then select the baby scale under the "Devices" menu item, & it will be added to the app. If you wish to connect the baby scale with the app for the first time when the "APP" symbol has disappeared after 120 seconds, simply press the Bluetooth® button on the scale.
The scale is successfully connected to the app once the Bluetooth® symbol appears in the display. Data will then be automatically transferred.
Check that you have activated the Bluetooth® function on your mobile end device, & press the Bluetooth® button on the baby scale. If a Bluetooth® connection can still not be established, this may be due to a number of reasons: - The minimum range in the open is approx. 15 m. Walls & ceilings reduce the range. - Check whether you currently have an active Bluetooth® connection with other devices such as your smartwatch, fitness tracker or other gadgets. Disconnect or move the relevant device outside the Bluetooth® range. - Other radio waves may interfere with the transmission. Therefore, do not position the scale near devices such as WiFi routers, and microwaves. - You are not connected to the app. Close the app completely (including in the background). Switch Bluetooth® off & back on again. Switch the smartphone off & back on again. Remove the batteries from the baby scale for a short period, re-insert them & re-synchronise.
Yes, the scale can also be used without the app. The measurements cannot be transferred without the app, however.
You can create any number of baby profiles in the profile area of the "beurer BabyCare" app. The baby scale transfers all saved measurements to the app. You can then assign the respective measurements to the desired baby profile there.
